Residents in Southeast St. Tammany, specifically Slidell, must remain sheltered in a safe location immediately due to an Extreme Storm Surge Warning issued by the National Weather Service New Orleans LA. This life-threatening storm surge is expected to bring 3-5 feet of inundation above ground in surge-prone areas, continuing through Saturday morning. Flood preparations and ordered evacuations should be complete, and evacuees must be in shelters well away from storm surge flooding. Do not venture outside.
The warning was issued at 4:00 PM CDT on October 9th and is effective until 12:00 AM UTC on October 10th. Wind conditions are forecast to remain below tropical storm force, with peak winds of 15-25 mph and gusts up to 35 mph. Little to no additional wind impacts are expected, and community officials are assessing realized wind impacts. No additional significant rainfall or tornado activity is forecast.
