A Storm Surge Warning has been issued for Slidell in Southeast St. Tammany, effective immediately as of October 8 at 10:01 AM CDT, according to the National Weather Service in New Orleans. Life-threatening storm surge of 3 to 5 feet above ground is possible from Friday morning until Saturday morning.
Residents in surge-prone areas of Slidell should finalize evacuation efforts and flood preparations now. If evacuation orders are issued for your area, leave immediately to avoid being cut off from emergency services or risking lives. Significant impacts are anticipated, including areas of inundation from storm surge flooding and potential damage to buildings, especially near Lake Pontchartrain and the Rigolets. Sections of near-shore escape routes and secondary roads may become weakened or washed out.
