The City of Boynton Beach migrated from Legacy our paper permit processing system in May, 2021, however, there are projects that were initiated in this system that are not closed.  If you applied for a permit prior to May 22, 2021 or have a permit application number of 21-2803 and lower you must use our Legacy system to reinstate your permit or permit application, make payments, submit revisions to an approved permit, submit corrections for a previously rejected permit application, or request certificates.

Inspection requests must be received by 3:00 pm in order to schedule an inspection for the following business day.  This information is to help you with the permitting process.  Depending on type of permit, you may need to  find and download permit forms and applications (below). For Permits Issued Before May 22, 2021: If your permit number is 21-2804 or lower, please continue to follow our Legacy process to schedule your inspection, check your application status, and view the daily inspections schedule. General Information About Permit Process Do I need a permit?  Any owner or authorized agent who intends to construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move, demolish, or change the occupancy of a building or structure, or to erect, install, enlarge, alter, repair, remove, convert or replace any electrical, gas, mechanical or plumbing system, the installation of which is regulated by this code, or to cause any such work to be done, shall first make application to the building official and obtain the required permit. This page is intended to be used as a general guide. When determining whether or not a building permit is required, refer to Section 105 of the Florida Building Code (FBC) Boynton Beach Administrative Amendments or consult directly with the Boynton Beach Building Department. Who can apply for a permit? The Building Department may only issue permits to Contractors and qualifying Owner/Builders pursuant to Florida Statute. Any eligible Owner/Builder can apply for a permit on any property that is for their own use. Permits requiring plan review? For permits requiring plan review, we will begin your permit process, review your application and route your package to plan review. Once the plans are approved for permit by all applicable departments we will issue the permit and commence the field inspection process. Does my Project require a permit? Projects that Require a Permit Typical projects that require a permit include, (but are not limited to): Additions / Alterations Ceiling fans / Lights (New Circuit) Change of Use or Occupancy to a Building or Specific Tenant Space Decks Electrical panels, Circuits Fences and Pool Barriers  Fireplace and fireplace inserts Garage and carport conversions Gas Lines Heating and cooling systems Kitchen and Bathroom remodels Outdoor Kitchens New homes and buildings Patios and/or Patio Covers and Roofs Photovoltaic (solar) systems Racking Reroofing Retaining and Seawalls Room additions Screen Rooms and Enclosures Sheds Shower or tub enclosure replacements Siding/Stucco Signs  Skylights Solar for swimming pools and water heaters Swimming pools and spas Tenant Improvements Termite / Dry rot Repairs Water Heaters Water Service Whole House Fans Window replacements  Projects that Do Not Require a Permit Typical projects that typically do not require a permit include, (but are not limited to): Gas: Portable heating appliance. Replacement of any minor part that does not alter approval of equipment or make such equipment unsafe. Mechanical Portable heating appliance. Portable ventilation equipment. Portable cooling unit. Steam, hot or chilled water piping within any heating or cooling equipment regulated by this code. Replacement of any part that does not alter its approval or make it unsafe. Portable evaporative cooler. Self-contained refrigeration system containing 10 pounds (5 kg) or less of refrigerant and actuated by motors of 1 horsepower (746 W) or less. The installation, replacement, removal or metering of any load management control device. Plumbing The stopping of leaks in drains, water, soil, waste or vent pipe, provided, however, that if any concealed trap, drain pipe, water, soil, waste or vent pipe becomes defective and it becomes necessary to remove and replace the same with new material, such work shall be considered as new work and a permit shall be obtained and inspection made as provided in this code. The clearing of stoppages or the repairing of leaks in pipes, valves or fixtures and the removal and reinstallation of water closets, provided such repairs do not involve or require the replacement or rearrangement of valves, pipes or fixtures. Emergency repairsWhere equipment replacements and repairs must be performed in an emergency situation, the permit application shall be submitted within the next working business day to the building official. Minor repairsOrdinary minor repairs may be made with the approval of the building official without a permit, provided the repairs do not include the cutting away of any wall, partition or portion thereof, the removal or cutting of any structural beam or load-bearing support, or the removal or change of any required means of egress, or rearrangement of parts of a structure affecting the egress requirements; nor shall ordinary repairs include addition to, alteration of, replacement or relocation of any standpipe, water supply, sewer, drainage, drain leader, gas, soil, waste, vent or similar piping, electric wiring systems or mechanical equipment or other work affecting public health or general safety, and such repairs shall not violate any of the provisions of the technical codes. Fiber Optics & Broadband Installation

Fiber Optics & Broadband Installation | Seminole, FL Fiber installation work is ongoing throughout the City of Seminole. This is NOT a City project. The construction you are seeing is being carried out by private telecommunications companies that are installing fiber-optic infrastructure. This type of work involves installing access vaults and underground cables in public rights-of-way. The City of Seminole does NOT have the authority to prevent these projects. Florida Statute 337.401 requires municipalities to allow telecommunications providers access to public rights-of-way. In Seminole, three main companies are installing fiber-optic infrastructure: IQ Fiber Customer Service: (800) 495-4775 T-Mobile Customer Service: (800) 453-6110 Verizon/Frontier Customer Service: (813) 278-0657 Frequently Asked Questions: Who are these people digging on my lawn?! The workers you are most likely seeing are contractors installing fiber optic cables for a telecommunications company. This work is taking place within the public right-of-way (ROW), which extends beyond the edge of the roadway and can vary in width throughout the City. A property survey can show where the right-of-way ends and where a private property begins. Some areas may also have additional utility easements on the property plat. It is the contractor’s responsibility to verify that all work remains within the permitted right-of-way. Who allowed this? Florida Statute 337.401 requires municipalities to allow telecommunications providers access to public rights-of-way for their facilities. Under State and Federal law, the City of Seminole does not have the authority to prevent these projects. Why wasn't I notified? The City of Seminole requires installers to inform HOAs and residents of upcoming work. This notice is often mistaken for an advertisement. What are these flags and marks being put in my right-of-way? Can I remove them? The flags and markings you may see are part of the utility-locating process. 811 is the national “Call Before You Dig” number, and Florida law requires homeowners, contractors, and subcontractors to contact 811 before beginning excavation work. The different colors help identify existing underground utilities and other information needed to safely complete the work. Do NOT remove, move, or cover any flags or markings. For more information about the 811 process and marking colors, visit the 811 website. Who is responsible for damages? The telecommunications provider and its contractor are responsible for any damage from permitted work. Florida Statute 337.401 holds the permit holder responsible for damage resulting from the activity. If you are concerned about potential damage, we recommend taking timestamped photos once you see flags appear, before work begins. This documentation can help establish the condition of the area before construction and may be useful if you need to file a damage claim with the telecommunications provider.
