The Town comprehensive Tree Management Plan has established an organized, proactive tree maintenance program to ensure Miami Lakes and its trees continue “Growing Beautifully.” Playful City USA Playful City USA was a recognition program, that recognized and honored the cities and towns that ensured kids in their communities, were getting the balanced and active play they need to thrive. From 2008 to 2017 Miami Lakes earned recognition from national non-profit KaBOOM! for its efforts to provide children with the tools and opportunities for play. Communities for a Lifetime The Florida Department of Elder Affairs honored the town of Miami Lakes in 2005 with the Communities for a Lifetime Award. This award recognizes municipalities that have demonstrated a strong commitment to providing accessible and livable communities for older adults. The recognition is a testament to the town’s dedication to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for older adults. Computers, Printing, Faxing & WiFi | Lantana Library, FL Access our Computers The Lantana Public Library has computers available for adults that are free to use for library members with an active library card. Learn how to obtain a library card by viewing the Get a Library Card page. Wifi is available for personal devices. Reservations If all computers are in use, you can create a reservation for the next available computer by using our Self-Service Computer Kiosk, or coming to the front desk. Laptops MacBooks are available to rent for use while in the library. When renting a laptop, we will need both your library card and your photo ID. Printing, Copying & Faxing We do our best to make printing and copying services accessible to everyone. Our Konica Minolta All-In-One printer is located near the front desk. We are proud to offer all of our patrons 10 free pages of printed material every day. The cost for additional pages is $0.05. Color, black and white, and duplex options are all available. Faxing services are free. Sorry! We are CASH ONLY! Princh Mobile Printing Mobile printing from a cell phone, laptop, or other mobile device is also available. Lee County Elections to conduct testing of voting equipment for the 2026 general election • Lee County Elections, FL On Friday, Oct. 9, at 9 a.m., the Lee County Supervisor of Elections Office will conduct a logic and accuracy test of the election systems and voting equipment that will be used in the 2026 general election. In accordance with Florida law, the Elections Office will test the tabulators used for vote-by-mail, early voting and Election Day voting. Logic and accuracy testing verifies that the election systems and voting equipment are functioning properly and counting votes accurately. Testing will take place on the third floor of the Melvin Morgan Constitutional Complex, 2480 Thompson St., Fort Myers. The test is open to the public and will be conducted in the presence of the Lee County Canvassing Board. The members of the Canvassing Board for the 2026 general election are Lee County Judge Devin George, chair of the Canvassing Board; Investigative Supervisor Steven A. Scalici of the State Attorney's Office for the 20th Judicial Circuit; and City of Fort Myers Ward 5 Councilman Fred Burson. Canvassing Board alternates are Lee County Judge Javier Pacheco and Lee County Elections Branch Manager Jennifer Erickson. Lee County Supervisor of Elections Jenna Persons-Mulicka will not serve on the Canvassing Board for the general election because she is a candidate on the ballot. She will continue to perform her duties, including serving in an advisory capacity to the Board, as required by Florida statute. Chief Judge J. Frank Porter of the 20th Judicial Circuit appointed Councilman Burson to serve on the Board in her place. Sand Available Ahead of Tropical Storm Isaias

In anticipation of heavy rainfall associated with Tropical Storm Isaias this weekend, Bay County has placed sand for bagging available to the public at McElvey Road off Thomas Drive in Panama City Beach and at Majette Yard off Firetower Road. Bags will not be provided but are available for purchase at area hardware stores. Several municipalities are also providing sand to residents; please see the graphic below. For specific or additional information, please call the municipality directly. For the most current information from the Bay County Emergency Operations Center, monitor local media outlets, follow this page and ensure that you are signed up for emergency alerts at www.alertbay.org.

Additionally, you can find parking spaces in Wooton Park and nearby on-street parking.
