Seminole residents had a unique opportunity this September to support local nonprofits while dining out, thanks to the 1905 Family of Restaurants' annual Community Harvest fundraiser. The initiative, which concluded at the end of the month, saw participating restaurants like Columbia, Ulele, and Casa Santo Stefano donate a portion of every customer's bill to nearly 100 Florida-based nonprofits.
The fundraiser allowed diners to choose the specific local nonprofit that received 5% of their bill. This donation came directly from the restaurant, ensuring customers did not incur any additional cost to participate in the charitable effort.
This year marked the 29th anniversary of the Community Harvest fundraiser, a long-standing tradition for the 1905 Family of Restaurants to give back to the community. Andrea Gonzmart Williams, a fifth-generation owner, discussed the fundraiser at Ulele on the Tampa Riverwalk earlier this month. Tampa Bay 28 reporter Sean Daly visited Ulele, where he sampled the restaurant's seafood risotto and spoke with Williams about the program's impact.
While the September fundraiser has now concluded, the Community Harvest program has consistently provided a way for local diners to contribute to charitable causes simply by enjoying a meal. The initiative has supported numerous organizations across the state for nearly three decades.
Residents interested in future community support initiatives from local businesses can watch for announcements from the 1905 Family of Restaurants.
