Extreme Storm Surge Warning for Santa Rosa Coastal: Shelter Immediately

An extreme Storm Surge Warning is in effect for Santa Rosa Coastal areas including Bagdad, Gulf Breeze, and Navarre, with immediate sheltering advised due to life-threatening winds up to 105 mph and storm surge of 3-5 feet possible.

A Storm Surge Warning has been issued for Santa Rosa Coastal areas, including Bagdad, Gulf Breeze, and Navarre, by the National Weather Service (NWS) Mobile AL, effective immediately on October 9 at 10:13 PM CDT. This warning indicates an extreme, life-threatening situation.

Residents in these areas should shelter immediately. The NWS forecasts equivalent Strong Tropical Storm force winds, with peak gusts up to 105 mph through the next few hours. Wind speeds exceeding 110 mph are possible. Focus last-minute efforts solely on protecting life and be prepared for catastrophic wind damage. Remain sheltered in the safest place inside your home.

Life-threatening storm surge of 3-5 feet above ground is possible through Saturday morning. Flood preparations and ordered evacuations should be complete. Do not venture outside. A Flood Watch is also in effect with potential for major flooding from approximately 1 inch of additional rainfall. Emergency plans should include potential evacuations and rescues due to widespread flooding. Tornadoes are not expected at this time.
