Polk County residents who are not registered to vote but would like to participate in the August 18th Primary Election, have until July 20th to submit their completed voter registration form to the Elections Headquarters in Bartow or at our Operations Center in Winter Haven. Click here to make changes to your record for the August 18th Primary Election. Closed Primary Information Regardless of party affiliation, all voters may vote in the August 18th Primary Election. However, Florida is a Closed Primary State. This means that only registered Democrats may vote for Democratic candidates and only registered Republicans may vote for Republican candidates. Registered voters with no party affiliation or with minor party affiliation are eligible to vote in Non-Partisan and Universal Primary contests. Universal Primary: If all candidates in a primary race have the same party affiliation and the winner will have no opposition in the General Election, all qualified electors, regardless of party affiliation may vote in the Primary Election for that office. Voters have until Thursday, August 6, 2026, to request a mail ballot for this election. All voted mail ballots must be received by the Supervisor of Elections by 7 p.m. on Election Day.
