A Storm Surge Warning has been issued for Santa Rosa Coastal, affecting Bagdad, Gulf Breeze, and Navarre, by the National Weather Service (NWS) Mobile AL, effective immediately as of October 8 at 6:56 AM CDT. This warning indicates a life-threatening situation.
Residents in surge-prone areas should prepare for life-threatening storm surge flooding greater than 6 feet above ground. Evacuation efforts should be completed immediately. If evacuation orders are given for your area, leave to avoid being cut off from emergency services. This storm surge threat is expected from Friday morning until Saturday morning.
In addition to storm surge, expect Cat 1 Hurricane force winds (65-85 mph, gusts to 105 mph) starting Friday afternoon until Friday evening. Hurricane force winds are possible Friday afternoon until Friday evening. Secure all property and move to safe shelter before winds become hazardous. Extensive damage to homes and infrastructure is anticipated, with widespread power and communication outages.
