Tucson, AZ – Residents in the Upper Santa Cruz River and Altar Valleys, Tucson Metro Area, Southeast Pinal County, Santa Catalina and Rincon Mountains, and Baboquivari Mountains should secure outdoor objects and exercise caution while driving today, Sunday, October 10.

A Wind Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Tucson, effective from 7 AM MST this morning until 11 PM MST tonight. This advisory impacts areas including Nogales, Tucson, Green Valley, Marana, Vail, Kearny, Mammoth, Oracle, Mount Lemmon, and Summerhaven, as well as Kitt Peak.

Strong south to southwest winds are expected, with sustained speeds of 25 to 35 mph and gusts potentially reaching around 45 mph. The NWS indicates that the strongest gusts are likely to occur near showers and thunderstorms.

These conditions may make driving difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles. Tree limbs could be blown down, and localized power outages are possible. The NWS advises securing any unsecured outdoor objects to prevent them from being blown around.
