A Wind Advisory is in effect for much of Southeast Arizona today, October 4, 2026, from 8 AM MST until 2 PM MST. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Tucson has issued the advisory, warning of east winds between 20 to 30 mph with gusts potentially reaching 40 to 55 mph.
Residents in the Upper Santa Cruz River and Altar Valleys (including Nogales), the Tucson Metro Area (including Tucson, Green Valley, Marana, and Vail), South Central Pinal County (including Eloy and Picacho Peak State Park), Southeast Pinal County (including Kearny, Mammoth, and Oracle), the Upper San Pedro River Valley (including Sierra Vista and Benson), Eastern Cochise County Below 5000 Feet (including Douglas and Willcox), the Upper Gila River and Aravaipa Valleys (including Clifton and Safford), the Galiuro and Pinaleno Mountains (including Mount Graham), the Chiricahua Mountains (including Chiricahua National Monument), Dragoon/Mule/Huachuca and Santa Rita Mountains (including Bisbee, Canelo Hills, and Madera Canyon), Santa Catalina and Rincon Mountains (including Mount Lemmon and Summerhaven), and the Baboquivari Mountains (including Kitt Peak) are all impacted.
These strong winds are expected to blow around unsecured objects, and tree limbs could be blown down. There is also a possibility of power outages. Residents are urged to use extra caution while driving and to secure any loose outdoor items.
