A Wind Advisory has been issued for the Upper Santa Cruz River and Altar Valleys, including Nogales, and the Tucson Metro Area, including Tucson, Green Valley, Marana, and Vail. The advisory also affects Southeast Pinal County, including Kearny, Mammoth, and Oracle, as well as the Santa Catalina and Rincon Mountains, including Mount Lemmon and Summerhaven, and the Baboquivari Mountains, including Kitt Peak.

The National Weather Service in Tucson, AZ, issued the advisory on October 9 at 9:19 AM MST, effective from 7 AM to 11 PM MST on Sunday, October 11.

Residents in these areas should prepare for strong sustained south to southwest winds of 25 to 35 mph, with gusts reaching around 45 mph. The strongest gusts are expected to occur near showers and thunderstorms. These conditions are a result of a strong weather disturbance reinforced by a decaying tropical system.

Gusty winds can blow around unsecured objects, and tree limbs may be blown down, potentially leading to a few power outages. Drivers, especially those operating high-profile vehicles, should use extra caution as winds this strong can make driving difficult.
