Sanibel Natural Resources: Water Quality & Habitat

Sanibel's Natural Resources Department coordinates conservation and environmental projects across the island, reporting directly to City Council.

The department oversees exotic plant removal, habitat restoration, and land management while monitoring water quality. Staff members work to reduce nutrient runoff, control algae blooms, and address flows from the Caloosahatchee River and Lake Okeechobee.
