A Wind Advisory is in effect for Parker Valley, Kofa, Central La Paz, Southeast Yuma County, Gila River Valley, Chuckwalla Mountains, Chuckwalla Valley, Imperial County Southeast, and Palo Verde Valley, with gusts up to 50 MPH expected through Sunday.
Residents in Parker Valley, Kofa, Central La Paz, Southeast Yuma County, and Gila River Valley in Arizona, and Chuckwalla Mountains, Chuckwalla Valley, Imperial County Southeast, and Palo Verde Valley in California, should prepare for strong winds.
The National Weather Service (NWS) Phoenix AZ has issued a Wind Advisory, effective from October 8 at 11:18 PM MST until October 11 at 5:00 PM MST. South winds are expected to reach 20 to 30 mph, with gusts up to 50 mph.
Difficult driving conditions are anticipated, particularly for larger vehicles on roads with crosswinds. Light, unsecured objects may become airborne. The NWS advises extra caution, as strong winds over desert areas could briefly reduce visibility to under a mile due to blowing dust or sand.
A Wind Advisory indicates sustained wind speeds of 30 to 40 mph or gusts between 40 and 58 mph. These conditions can make driving challenging, especially for high-profile vehicles.
