Residents in the San Diego County Deserts, specifically Borrego Springs, need to immediately prepare for hazardous wind and major flooding. A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued by the National Weather Service San Diego CA, effective October 10 at 1:54 PM PDT and expiring October 10 at 10:00 PM PDT.

Strong winds are anticipated, with peak forecasts of 25-35 mph and gusts up to 55 mph. Property protection efforts should be underway now, including securing porches, awnings, carports, and any unanchored objects. Expect potential damage to trees and power outages.

A Flood Watch is also in effect with potential for an additional 1 inch of rainfall. This could lead to major flooding, prompting evacuations and rescues. Heed all flood watches and warnings immediately. Floodwaters may enter structures, make roads impassable, and create dangerous driving conditions. Avoid driving through flooded areas.
