Extreme Heat Watch Issued for Southern California: Prepare for Dangerous Temperatures
An Extreme Heat Watch has been issued by NWS San Diego for Southern California, with dangerous temperatures expected from Friday morning through next Wednesday evening across multiple counties.
Residents across San Diego County Coastal Areas, San Bernardino and Riverside County Valleys-The Inland Empire, San Diego County Inland Valleys, Santa Ana Mountains and Foothills, Orange County Coastal, and Orange County Inland are advised to prepare for dangerously hot conditions. The National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego has issued an Extreme Heat Watch, effective from Friday morning through next Wednesday evening.
High temperatures are expected to range from around 90 degrees near the coast to the upper 90s and upper 100s in the valleys. Overnight low temperatures in coastal areas and western valleys will remain warm, in the lower to mid 70s, making natural cooling difficult. This prolonged heat wave increases the risk of heat-related illnesses.
The NWS advises the public to take immediate precautions: drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, stay out of the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors. This watch remains in effect until October 7 at 9:00 PM PDT.
