The warning is effective from 10 AM PDT this morning, October 2nd, until 8 PM PDT on Thursday, October 8th. High temperatures are expected to range from the mid-80s to lower 90s near the coast, and reach the mid-90s to around 102 degrees Fahrenheit for mesas and higher coastal terrain. Overnight lows will remain very warm, mostly in the 70s.
The NWS warns that heat-related illnesses will significantly increase during this period. To protect yourselves and others, residents are advised to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, and stay out of the sun. Check on relatives and neighbors, especially those who may be vulnerable to the heat.
It is critical to remember: Do not leave young children or pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes, even with windows cracked.
