An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect for San Diego County Coastal Areas until Thursday, October 8, at 8:00 PM PDT, with dangerously hot conditions and high temperatures ranging from the mid-80s to low 100s expected.
Residents in San Diego County Coastal Areas should prepare for dangerously hot conditions as an Extreme Heat Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego CA, effective immediately until Thursday, October 8, at 8:00 PM PDT.
High temperatures are expected to range from the mid-80s to lower 90s near the coast, with mid-90s to low 100s anticipated for mesas and higher coastal terrain. Nights will offer little relief, with low temperatures mostly in the 70s.
The NWS warns that heat-related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events. To stay safe, residents are advised to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, stay out of the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors.
Crucially, never leave young children or pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in minutes. This warning was issued on October 2 at 9:13 PM PDT.
