Residents in the Coachella Valley, San Diego County Deserts, and San Gorgonio Pass near Banning are advised to take immediate precautions as an Extreme Heat Warning is in effect until 8:00 PM PDT this evening, October 9, 2026.

The National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego has issued this warning due to dangerously hot conditions, with temperatures expected to reach up to 105 degrees.

To avoid heat-related illnesses, which increase significantly during extreme heat events, the NWS recommends the following actions: Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, and stay out of the sun. Residents should also check on relatives and neighbors.

When outdoors, wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing. Limit strenuous activities to the early morning or evening hours. It is crucial to take immediate action if you observe symptoms of heat exhaustion or heat stroke.
