Residents of Borrego Springs are urged to complete preparations immediately as a Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for the San Diego County Deserts by the National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego, CA. The watch is effective from October 10, 2026, at 8:02 AM UTC (1:02 AM PDT) and expires October 10, 2026, at 4:15 PM UTC (9:15 AM PDT).

Forecasters anticipate peak winds of 25-35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph, with a potential for sustained winds of 39 to 57 mph. Damage to outdoor property like awnings, carports, and unanchored mobile homes is possible. Scattered power and communications outages may occur, and some roads could become impassable due to debris. Act now to secure loose outdoor items.

A Flood Watch is also in effect, with around 1 inch of rain expected. The NWS warns of potential for major flooding, which could lead to evacuations and rescues. Rivers and tributaries may overflow, and small waterways could become dangerous. Residents in flood-vulnerable areas should strongly consider protective actions and heed any flood watches and warnings. Failure to act could result in serious injury or loss of life. Tornadoes are not expected at this time.
