Residents in the San Diego County Inland Valleys are urged to take immediate precautions as an Extreme Heat Warning has been issued. The National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego has confirmed dangerously hot conditions are expected, with high temperatures ranging from the upper 90s to 105 degrees Fahrenheit. Nights will also be unusually warm, with lows in the mid-60s to mid-70s.
This warning is effective from 2:20 AM PDT on October 6, 2026, and will remain in effect until 8:00 PM PDT on October 8, 2026. The NWS emphasizes that heat-related illnesses increase significantly during such extreme heat events.
To stay safe, the NWS advises residents to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, and avoid direct sun exposure. Please check on elderly relatives and neighbors. Crucially, never leave young children or pets unattended in vehicles, as car interiors can reach lethal temperatures rapidly. This warning was issued by NWS San Diego CA.
