An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect for San Diego County Coastal Areas until Thursday, October 8, with dangerously high temperatures expected; residents should take immediate precautions against heat-related illnesses.
An Extreme Heat Warning has been issued for San Diego County Coastal Areas, effective immediately until Thursday, October 8, at 8:00 PM PDT. Residents are advised to take precautions against dangerously high temperatures.
The National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego reports that high temperatures will range from the mid-80s to lower 90s at beaches, and mid-90s to around 100 degrees for mesas and higher coastal terrain. Overnight lows will remain warm, in the upper 60s to mid-70s.
These conditions significantly increase the risk of heat-related illnesses. The NWS strongly advises residents to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, and avoid prolonged sun exposure. It is also crucial to check on relatives and neighbors, especially those who may be vulnerable.
Important Safety Alert: Never leave young children or pets in unattended vehicles. Interior car temperatures can quickly become lethal.
