Wind Advisory and Extreme Heat Warning for Inland Empire until Thursday
A Wind Advisory is in effect until 6 PM PDT today and an Extreme Heat Warning until Thursday 8 PM PDT for the Inland Empire, bringing gusty winds and dangerously high temperatures. Residents should secure outdoor items, drive carefully, and take precautions against heat-related illnesses.
Residents in the San Bernardino and Riverside County Valleys, including the Inland Empire, must prepare for a combination of a Wind Advisory and an Extreme Heat Warning, effective immediately. The National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego has issued a Wind Advisory until 6:00 PM PDT this evening, October 3.
East winds are expected to reach speeds of 15 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 45 mph. These conditions can cause unsecured objects to blow around, potentially bringing down tree limbs and leading to isolated power outages. Drivers of high-profile vehicles should exercise extreme caution, as strong winds will make driving difficult.
Simultaneously, an Extreme Heat Warning remains in effect until 8:00 PM PDT Thursday. Dangerously hot conditions are expected, with high temperatures reaching the upper 90s to 103 degrees Fahrenheit. Overnight lows will offer little relief, staying in the lower to mid-70s. Heat-related illnesses are a significant concern during this period.
To stay safe, the NWS advises drinking plenty of fluids, remaining in air-conditioned rooms, staying out of the sun, and checking on relatives and neighbors. It is crucial not to leave young children or pets in unattended vehicles, as car interiors can quickly reach lethal temperatures.
