Extreme Heat Warning, Wind Advisory Issued for Inland Empire
An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect until October 8, with a Wind Advisory until 6 PM today, for San Bernardino and Riverside County Valleys, bringing dangerously hot conditions and gusty winds to the Inland Empire.
Residents of San Bernardino and Riverside County Valleys – The Inland Empire are advised to take immediate precautions as an Extreme Heat Warning is in effect until 8 PM PDT on Thursday, October 8. Additionally, a Wind Advisory is active until 6 PM PDT this evening, October 3.
The National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego has issued these alerts due to dangerously hot conditions, with high temperatures expected to range from the upper 90s to 103 degrees Fahrenheit. Overnight lows will remain warm, in the lower to mid-70s. This extreme heat significantly increases the risk of heat-related illnesses.
East winds of 15 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 45 mph, are also anticipated. These strong winds may blow around unsecured objects, bring down tree limbs, and potentially cause power outages. Driving may be difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles, and extra caution is advised.
To stay safe, drink plenty of fluids, remain in air-conditioned rooms, and stay out of the sun. Check on relatives and neighbors. Never leave young children or pets in unattended vehicles, as car interiors can quickly reach lethal temperatures. Residents are urged to follow these instructions to protect themselves and their community during these severe weather conditions.
