Our goal is to enrich Lauderdale Lakes’ diverse neighborhoods, support a growing economy, and enhance the quality of life for both business and residential communities. The mission of the Development Services Department is to enhance the quality of life while protecting the health, safety and welfare of City residents through a comprehensive planning, development and code compliance program. The Development Services Department has divisions that provide municipal services in the areas of Planning & Zoning and Housing, Code Compliance, Local Business Tax, Building Permits. Our Focus The Development Services Division is dedicated to guiding residents, businesses, and developers through a transparent and efficient review and approval process, all in alignment with the city’s code and policies. We provide innovative and practical solutions for comprehensive planning, zoning, plan reviews, building inspections, business tax receipts, growth management, environmental and neighborhood planning, urban design, sustainability initiatives, and economic development. In partnership with community stakeholders and public agencies, our mission is to cultivate a safe, thriving, and well-planned urban environment by effectively regulating land use, zoning, and building activities. Our Divisions: Building Safety Division: Responsible for safeguarding all new and existing structures in Lauderdale Lakes. This division handles building plans, inspections, and permits while ensuring compliance with the Florida Building Code. Business Services Division: Connects new and existing businesses with resources to support growth and expansion. This division also manages business tax receipts and special event permits. Planning and Zoning Division: Works with developers and property owners to ensure land development or redevelopment projects are reviewed fairly and comply with city codes. Housing Assistance: The City of Lauderdale Lakes provides essential housing assistance programs to help residents maintain safe and resilient homes. Our Air Conditioning (AC) Program offers financial support for the repair or replacement of AC units, ensuring comfort and healthier living conditions. Our Code Assistance Program aids homeowners in meeting city code requirements by offering resources and funding for necessary repairs. Additionally, the Residential Home Repair Assistance Programs provide grants and services to improve and maintain homes, enhancing the quality of life for Lauderdale Lakes residents.
