Midvale $1.25M Pedestrian Bridge to Jordan River Trail

Staff Writer
June 12, 2026

Midvale is pursuing a $1.25 million pedestrian bridge to connect Bingham Junction Park with the Jordan River Trail, creating a direct route to neighboring communities including West Jordan and Murray.

Mayor Marcus Gettel announced the project in his monthly column. The city plans to apply for local, state, and federal grants to cover nearly all construction costs, with the Wasatch Front Regional Council as a key funding partner.

The bridge would allow park visitors immediate access to the trail system and enable residents from surrounding cities to reach Midvale's amenities more easily. Gettel has coordinated with city staff, neighboring municipalities, state officials, and residents to advance the proposal, which has not yet received final approval.

The Jordan River Trail attracts visitors year-round. Pelicans visit the area for several months each year alongside resident ducks and deer.
