Mary “Maxine” McAlister, age 88, of LaFayette, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2026. She retired from Roper Corporation.She was preceded in death by her husband, James McAlister; parents, Shannon Kirk and Clara Mae Ponder; sisters, Yvonne Willingham and Jimmie Abbott; and brother, J.W. Kirk.Maxine is survived by her daughter, Pam (John) Hensley; son, Tim (Anja) McAlister; grandchildren, Chris (Brenda) Triplett, Josh (Faith) Triplett, and Cristy (Rodney) Lewis; great grandchildren, Addie, Sawyer, and Stella; sister, Cathy (LaGary) Hewitt; special niece, Jan Shattuck along with several other nieces and nephews.A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 1, in the Wilbanks Memorial Chapel with Bro. David Thompson officiating.Interment will take place at the LaFayette City Cemetery.Pallbearers are Chris Triplett, Joshua Triplett, Sawyer Triplett, LaGary Hewitt, David Hewitt, and Rodney Lewis.Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Tapestry Hospice.A visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday and on Monday from 10 a.m. to the hour of service at the funeral home.Arrangements are by Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home, LaFayette.
