Residents in North Mankato may hear occasional siren sounds during the week of April 20-24, 2026, as the city conducts testing of its outdoor warning siren system. This testing is part of a county-wide initiative to assess and ensure the reliability of emergency alerts.
The testing is being conducted in coordination with Blue Earth County Emergency Management and surrounding communities. The goal of this project is to evaluate the effectiveness of the outdoor warning siren system across the county.
During the testing period, residents can expect brief and intermittent siren sounds. These sounds may occur at various times throughout the day and evening. In the event of an actual tornado warning, the outdoor warning sirens will sound continuously for two full minutes.
The city thanks residents for their awareness during this important assessment. Maintaining a reliable emergency warning system is a priority for the community.
