Saint Peter residents should prepare for significant traffic disruptions as the Belgrade Avenue reconstruction project officially began on Monday, April 20, 2026. The initial phase of the project commenced with the closure of the intersection at Range Street and Belgrade Avenue.
This infrastructure improvement project is divided into phases to manage the impact on local traffic and businesses. Phase 1, which started this week, focuses on the Range Street and Belgrade Avenue intersection. While this intersection is closed, vehicles will still be able to access and park in the 200 block of Belgrade Avenue until Phase 2 begins.
Phase 2 of the reconstruction is anticipated to start in late May. At that point, the 200 block of Belgrade Avenue will be fully closed to all vehicle traffic. Throughout the entire project, sidewalk access for pedestrians will be maintained to the greatest extent possible. However, short closures of the sidewalks will be necessary at certain points to allow for the removal of existing sidewalks and the construction of new ones.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to follow updates on the project's progress and any further traffic advisories. More information and ongoing updates can be found on the city's official website.
