Carlin J. McGarvey, born May 28, 2002, passed away on May 13, 2026, leaving behind a life marked by hard work, devotion, and a deep love for his family. He was known by those who loved him as a proud, caring, loving, and compassionate young man whose presence brought warmth and laughter to the lives around him.Carlin was the son of the late Adam McGarvey and Jamie (Ugolini) McGarvey. He is survived by his loving fiancée, Jessa Weygand, and their daughter Stella, along with their future joy, Lennon. He is also survived by his mother, Jamie McGarvey; his brother, Chase McGarvey, and Chase’s wife, Jessika, along with his niece and nephew; his father and mother-in-law, Dave and Lisa Weygand; his maternal grandparents, Joe and Beth Ugolini; and his paternal grandmother, Sharon McGarvey. He was preceded in death by his father, Adam McGarvey; his stepfather, Michael Austino; and his paternal grandfather, Bill McGarvey.Carlin was a hard worker in every sense of the word. For seven years, he worked for Precision Farm Drainage, where he earned a reputation for being dependable, capable, and willing to do whatever the job required. His family and friends knew that he had a natural talent for mechanical work, and he could repair just about any car or truck that needed attention. He had a practical mind, a strong work ethic, and the kind of hands that could turn a problem into a solution. His mother affectionately called him “My Little Pig Pen,” a nickname that reflected both his hardworking nature and the familiar, lived-in spirit that made him so endearing to those who knew him best.Carlin also shared a special bond with his grandfather Joe, whom he helped through many a fall harvest in the fields. Those seasons of work were more than just labor. They were moments that reflected Carlin’s loyalty, his willingness to help, and the quiet strength he brought to the people and places he cared about. He understood the value of showing up, of doing the work, and of being someone others could count on. That reliability was one of his defining qualities, and it touched every part of his life.Above all else, Carlin was devoted to his family. He loved Jessa deeply and was an attentive and devoted fiancée who worked hard to build a life centered on love, stability, and care. He was especially proud of Stella, and he embraced fatherhood with tenderness and commitment. Even through hard times, Carlin remained focused on the people he loved most, and he gave his best to them every day. His love for his family was steady, sincere, and unmistakable.Carlin faced a difficult past, especially after the loss of his stepfather, Mike. That loss shaped him, but it did not define him. Instead, he learned from what he had been through and continued forward with determination and heart. He overcame hardship with resilience and used his experiences to become stronger and more grounded. Those who knew Carlin will remember him as adventurous, selfless, and always willing to help. He was a reliable friend who could be counted on in times of need, and he brought a sense of humor and lightheartedness wherever he went. He was, in the words of those who loved him, goofy as hell, and that joyful spirit was part of what made him so memorable. His contagious laughter, his loyalty, and his ability to make others feel at ease will be deeply missed.Carlin J. McGarvey will be remembered for the love he gave, the work he did, and the strength he showed throughout his life. Though his time here was far too short, he leaves behind a legacy of devotion, perseverance, and love that will remain in the hearts of his family and friends forever.A visitation for Carlin will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the UC Davis Callahan Funeral Home in Morris.
