St. Cloud Property Tax Exemption Vote November 2024

Staff Writer
June 4, 2026
St. Cloud Voters to Decide on Property Tax Exemption Increase

Saint Cloud residents will vote on a property tax proposal this November that Governor Ron DeSantis and the Florida Legislature approved.

The measure would raise the homestead exemption to $150,000 starting Jan. 1, 2027, then to $250,000 on Jan. 1, 2028. The exemption would increase annually with inflation after that. The proposal needs 60% voter approval to take effect.

The City of St. Cloud posted budget information on its website showing current property tax revenue, spending patterns, and the projected revenue loss from the exemption. The city also detailed how population growth has driven increased spending on police and fire services.

Residents can access city budget documents and financial reports through the city's official channels.
