Toho Water Authority (Toho) has concluded its scheduled water main flushing activities in the Indian Ridge Trail area. The work, which began on September 14 and concluded today, September 18, aimed to improve water appearance, odor, taste, and overall quality for residents.
During the flushing process, which took place daily between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., customers in the affected area may have experienced temporary changes in their water. These could include discoloration, odor, a different taste, or sediment. Residents were advised that running cold and hot water taps for 15 to 20 minutes typically resolved these issues within their homes.
Toho Water Authority stated that the water met all state and federal regulations throughout the flushing period and remained safe for consumption. Residents who experienced persistent water quality issues were encouraged to contact Toho's Customer Service at 407-944-5000.
The system flushing involved releasing water from fire hydrants or automatic flushing devices on the distribution system. This process is a standard practice to maintain and enhance water quality. While the flushing was underway, some instances of lower-than-normal water pressure may have occurred in the vicinity.
Toho Water Authority had previously mailed letters to affected customers detailing the flushing schedule and potential impacts. Residents were also advised to avoid washing clothes during the flushing times to prevent possible staining from discolored water, suggesting evening or weekend laundry as alternatives.
