The City of Roseburg is looking for residents to join the Transportation Commission and advise the City Council on local transportation matters. The commission has a vacancy and is accepting applications from individuals interested in shaping the city's approach to public transit, traffic safety, and infrastructure planning.

Members of the Transportation Commission serve a four-year term and are expected to attend meetings held at 5:30 p.m. on the fourth Monday of each month. A key requirement for all commissioners is that they must reside within Roseburg city limits.

The commission's responsibilities include studying and recommending actions to the City Council on a range of public transportation issues. This encompasses traffic safety, traffic flow, and comprehensive transportation planning, including the development of capital improvement projects. Additionally, the commission reviews and advises on the allocation of funds from the State Highway Fund designated for the city.

Interested Roseburg residents can apply by downloading a fillable application form from the City website at CityofRoseburg.org/volunteer. Alternatively, applications can be requested by contacting the City Recorder’s Office via email at [email protected] or by phone at 541-492-6866.

Completed applications must be submitted to the City Recorder’s Office, located at 900 SE Douglas Ave., Roseburg, OR 97470, or emailed to [email protected]. The deadline for applications is 5 p.m. on Friday, June 7, 2024.

For those seeking more information about the commission's work or the application process, the Public Works Department can be reached at 541-492-6730 or by emailing [email protected].
