Fairport Electric Cuts EV Charging Rate to 33¢/kWh

Fairport Electric Cuts EV Charging Rate to 33 Cents Per Kilowatt Hour

Fairport Electric reduced its electric vehicle charging rate from 43 cents to 33 cents per kilowatt hour on Feb. 17.

The utility operates the charging stations as a self-sustaining program funded by user fees rather than ratepayer money. Revenue covers software, maintenance, and operational costs.

Drivers who leave vehicles connected after charging completes will incur parking fees. The charging station app alerts drivers when their vehicle reaches full charge. Fairport Electric encourages users to move their vehicles within 30 minutes of completion.

The utility will review pricing periodically based on maintenance costs and utility expenses.
