Fairport Electric Cuts EV Charging Rate to 33 Cents

Fairport Electric Cuts EV Charging Rate to 33 Cents Per Kilowatt Hour

Fairport Electric lowered its electric vehicle charging rate to $0.33 per kilowatt hour, effective February 17, 2026. The rate dropped from $0.43, which the utility established last year.

The charging stations, funded through a New York State Energy Research and Development Authority grant, must now cover their own costs. Fairport Electric charges users for software, maintenance, and station operations rather than passing expenses to ratepayers.

Usage data from the past year enabled the rate reduction while maintaining financial sustainability. The utility will review pricing periodically based on maintenance expenses and operational costs.

Drivers who leave vehicles connected after charging completes will incur parking fees. The charging app alerts users when their vehicle reaches full charge. Fairport Electric asks drivers to move their vehicles within 30 minutes of completion.
