Riverview families seeking information about Winthrop Charter School’s enrollment procedures can find answers on the school's website and at information sessions. The school encourages interested families to attend these sessions to speak directly with faculty and staff about programs.

Florida law requires children to be five years old by Sept. 1 for kindergarten admission, aligning with state public school enrollment requirements.

Parents must complete a separate application for each child. While individual applications are necessary for student information system registration, families can list siblings on each application to ensure sibling preference during the lottery process.

Current students who complete their Intent to Return form by the deadline automatically retain their space for the next academic year and do not need to reapply. For families with one child already attending who wish to enroll another, a new application must be submitted during the open enrollment period for the new child. The existing student should be listed in the “sibling attending” section of the application to receive preference.

Winthrop Charter School accepts applications after the official open enrollment period concludes, up until the last day of the school year for which the application is made. If a seat becomes available, an offer will be extended via email. Otherwise, the child’s application will be placed on a waitlist in the order it was received.

Waitlist applications are specific to the current school year and do not carry over. Parents must submit a new application during the subsequent open enrollment period if their child remains on the waitlist. Families can monitor their child's waitlist position by logging into their SchoolMint Dashboard.

Waitlist positions can fluctuate, sometimes moving down the list, due to state-permitted preferences such as sibling, military, or employee status. For example, if a waitlisted sibling is accepted, their sibling on the waitlist may receive enrollment preference, moving them higher on the list, which can cause others to move down.

Families whose child is selected during the lottery will receive an email notification. Accepted offers must be confirmed within seven calendar days via the SchoolMint Dashboard to avoid forfeiture. Online registration and required document submission must be completed within 14 calendar days after acceptance.

Winthrop Charter School operates as a public institution with no tuition fees. The school enforces a daily dress code, with details available on their website under the Parents tab. Transportation is not provided; parents are responsible for student transport, though the school can provide a list of private bus and van services.
