Riverview's Favorite Films: National Poll Reveals Top Choices

Riverview residents, like many Americans, find comfort in re-watching beloved films. A national poll released Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2026, found the average American has viewed their favorite movie 38 times. The survey offers insight into cinematic preferences that likely appeal to our community.

Across all generations, the top five favorite films include "Forrest Gump" (17%), "The Wizard of Oz" (15%), "Titanic" (15%), "The Lion King" (15%) and "Dirty Dancing" (14%). These classics continue to draw repeat viewings.

Generational differences also emerged. Baby boomers favor "Dirty Dancing," "The Wizard of Oz" and "Forrest Gump." Generation X aligns with "Forrest Gump," "Rocky" and the "Star Wars" series. Millennials prefer "The Lion King," "Forrest Gump" and "Titanic." Generation Z viewers, however, diverge from the "Forrest Gump" trend, with their top choices being "Toy Story," "Avengers: End Game" and "Shrek."
