Kirschner Aims for Sarasota's Florida Congressional Seat

Democrat Kelly Kirschner is campaigning to represent Florida's newly redrawn Congressional District 16, a seat currently held by Republican Vern Buchanan. The general election is Nov. 5.

Kirschner, 51, is a third-generation Floridian who previously served as Sarasota mayor. He was the youngest city commissioner in the municipality's history. He faces Republican Sydney Gruters in the upcoming election.

Kirschner expressed confidence in his campaign. He also discussed his opposition to money's influence in politics and highlighted a past victory against a campaign run by Gruters.

The campaign for CD 16 is one of several races across Florida leading up to the general election.
