Residents in the Santa Ana Mountains and Foothills should prepare for a Wind Advisory in effect until 6:00 PM PDT today, October 3. An Extreme Heat Warning is also in place until 8:00 PM PDT on Thursday, October 3. This dual alert from the National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego CA requires immediate action to ensure safety.

East winds are expected to reach 15 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 40 mph. These conditions can make driving challenging, particularly for high-profile vehicles, and may result in fallen tree limbs and isolated power outages. Unsecured outdoor objects should be brought indoors or secured.

Alongside the wind, dangerously hot conditions are anticipated, with temperatures climbing up to 102 degrees Fahrenheit. To prevent heat-related illnesses, the NWS advises residents to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned environments, and avoid direct sunlight. Check on vulnerable relatives and neighbors regularly. It is critical never to leave young children or pets unattended in vehicles, as car interiors can reach lethal temperatures rapidly.
