The National Weather Service (NWS) Phoenix AZ issued a Special Weather Statement at 8:09 PM PDT on October 10, 2026, for the Salton Sea, Imperial County West, and Imperial Valley.
At 8:09 PM PDT, Doppler radar indicated a strong thunderstorm near Mt. Signal, approximately 5 miles southwest of El Centro. This storm is moving north at 40 mph and is expected to bring wind gusts up to 40 mph. The NWS warns that these gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.
Areas impacted include El Centro, Calexico, Brawley, Imperial, Plaster City, Westmorland, El Centro Naval Airfield, Mt. Signal, Calipatria, Seeley, Dixieland, and Heber. The Special Weather Statement is effective until 8:45 PM PDT tonight, October 10, 2026.
