Residents in the Coachella Valley, San Diego County Deserts, and San Gorgonio Pass near Banning are advised to take immediate precautions due to an Extreme Heat Warning issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego CA.

The warning is effective from Thursday, October 8, at 12:19 AM PDT until Friday, October 9, at 8:00 PM PDT. Dangerously hot conditions are expected, with high temperatures ranging from 106 to 110 degrees Fahrenheit.

The NWS warns that heat-related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events. To mitigate risks, residents should drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, and stay out of direct sunlight. Checking on relatives and neighbors is also recommended.

When outdoors, wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing. Strenuous activities should be limited to the early morning or evening hours. It is crucial to take immediate action upon recognizing symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
