Stop by today or have us delivered to your door!We're pouring profits back into the community...As municipal liquor stores operated by the City of Elk River, profits from the liquor operations go directly back into community projects, which would otherwise have to be paid for with increased property taxes. Annually, the City Council allocates profits from the liquor stores for park improvements and to offset property taxes in the city's General Fund. Since 2013, the city's two liquor stores have contributed between $197,000 and $290,000 annually to the Park Improvement Fund.
Senior Activity Center Offers Programs and Events for Adults 55+
Elk River Parks and Recreation offers a wide variety of programs, events, and trips for adults 55 and older in the community. The Senior Activity Center is located within the city's Furniture and Things Community Event Center. Our space features a cozy fireplace seating area, fresh coffee, large windows, two Billiards tables, computer space, and so much more!Annual membership runs from January 1 through December 31. Memberships can be purchased at any time during the year. Elk River Announces Pavement Management Projects for Coming Years
Pavement Management is essential to extending the life of our streets in the most cost effective manner possible. The following video, produced by the Minnesota Local Road Research Board, provides a great overview on the benefits of adherence to a detailed pavement management program. Video: Why aren't they working on MY road?The City of Elk River uses a computer based Pavement Management Program to track the condition and maintenance needs of all streets within the city. This program includes data from the rating and evaluation of nearly 1,300 individual street segments. Through the analysis of this information staff uses the program to develop a list of projects to be completed in the coming years. Maintenance projects in Elk River are completed every other year. These projects are funded completely with revenue collected from the city franchise fee and our current State Aid allocations. The maps below include the preliminary recommendations for upcoming projects to be completed. Before a project is finalized and recommended to the Council for construction, staff will perform a final detailed review of each segment to assure the preliminary recommendation is appropriate for the current condition of the street.

The Elk River Parks and Recreation Department welcomes donations that help us enhance our parks and open space with items the department might not otherwise be able to afford. People may make contributions to community reforestation efforts, with an engraved plaque at the base - in memory of a friend or loved one, when giving a memorial tree, or you can donate a tribute bench that has an engraved plaque.A tree planted in someone's memory is a living tribute that benefits present and future generations.A tribute bench allows your loved one’s memory to live on in an act of service to our city parks.
