PERRY COUNTY — A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Perry County, including Beaumont, New Augusta, and Richton, effective immediately as of October 9 at 1:02 PM CDT. The National Weather Service (NWS) Mobile AL warns that tropical storm-force winds are expected within the next 36 hours. Residents must complete preparations now before hazardous wind conditions begin.
Peak wind forecasts indicate 10-20 mph with gusts up to 50 mph, posing a limited threat of damage to porches, awnings, unanchored mobile homes, and significant tree limb breakage. Scattered power and communications outages are possible. Efforts to protect property should be underway. Act now to secure loose outdoor objects.
Localized flooding from heavy rain is also a potential impact. While no additional significant rainfall is forecast, emergency plans should account for localized flooding, which could lead to brief road closures and overflowing small streams.
