Drivers in Harding, Butte, Northern Meade Co Plains, Northern Foothills, Rapid City, Pennington Co Plains, Sturgis/Piedmont Foothills, Southern Meade Co Plains, Southern Perkins counties in South Dakota, and Western Crook, Wyoming Black Hills, and Northeastern Crook counties in Wyoming should exercise extreme caution this morning due to dense fog.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Rapid City has issued a Special Weather Statement, effective immediately at 8:06 AM MDT, warning of rapidly changing visibility, potentially dropping to near zero at times. This alert is expected to remain in effect until 10:00 AM MDT.

Motorists are advised to use low beam headlights, reduce speed, and maintain increased braking distance between vehicles. These precautions are crucial for safe travel during this period of reduced visibility.
