Dr. Brandy Simpler Wins Troy University 2026 Ingalls Award
Troy University honored Dr. Brandy Simpler, an assistant professor in the School of Nursing, with the 2026 Ingalls Award for Excellence in Classroom Teaching on April 15. Chancellor Dr. Jack Hawkins Jr. and Provost Dr. Kerry Palmer presented the award during the university's annual Honors Convocation at the Claudia Crosby Theater.
Students nominate faculty members for the Ingalls Award, which recognizes teachers who conduct their classes "most diligently, effectively and cheerfully." A committee of students and faculty advisors selects the recipient, who receives a Socrates statue, plaque, and $1,000.
Simpler earned her bachelor's degree in nursing from Troy in 2008 and her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree in 2018. She holds an Alabama registered nurse license and belongs to the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. Her clinical work focuses on emergency and surgical nursing.
