Tampa Police Hunt Missing USF Doctoral Students Zamil Limon, Nahida Bristy

National Desk
April 22, 2026
TAMPA, Fla. -- University of South Florida police and the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office are urgently seeking the public’s help to locate two missing doctoral students last seen in the Tampa area on April 16. Zamil Limon, 27, pursuing a doctorate in geography, environmental science and policy, was last spotted around 9 a.m. at his home on Avalon Heights Boulevard. Nahida S. Bristy, also 27 and studying chemical engineering, was seen around 10 a.m. at the NES Building, 121 USF Sweetgum Lane, on the USF Tampa campus.[1][2][3] A family friend contacted USFPD shortly before 5 p.m. on April 17 after failing to reach either student, prompting a missing person report. Authorities have not determined if Limon and Bristy knew each other or departed together, and the circumstances of their disappearance remain unknown. The search focuses on the bustling USF Tampa campus and surrounding Hillsborough County neighborhoods, where the university serves over 50,000 students in the heart of Tampa Bay.[1][2] USFPD urges anyone with information to call (813) 974-2628 immediately. Photos of Limon and Bristy have been released by law enforcement to aid the effort. As of April 22, no updates on their whereabouts have been reported, heightening concerns in the close-knit USF community.[1][3][5]
