Local Businesses Sought for County Facility Services Contracts
TALLAHASSEE, FL – April 8, 2026 – Leon County is actively seeking local businesses to bid on upcoming contracts for a variety of facility services. This initiative aims to bolster the local economy by ensuring county projects benefit area companies and their employees.
The county's Support & Facility Services department announced that it will soon be soliciting proposals for maintenance, repair, and operational services across numerous county-owned buildings and properties. These contracts cover a broad spectrum of needs, including but not limited to landscaping, HVAC maintenance, plumbing, electrical work, janitorial services, and general building repairs.
“We are committed to supporting our local business community,” stated a representative from Leon County’s procurement office. “These contracts represent significant opportunities for small and medium-sized businesses in Tallahassee and the surrounding areas, including historic neighborhoods like Frenchtown and the vibrant Midtown district, to partner with the county and contribute directly to the upkeep of our public facilities.”
Information sessions are being planned for late April to provide potential bidders with details on the application process, specific contract requirements, and how to navigate the county's vendor registration system. Businesses interested in learning more are encouraged to monitor the Leon County Procurement Services website for exact dates and times of these informational meetings, which will be announced in the coming weeks.
This push for local engagement is part of an ongoing effort by county commissioners to prioritize local sourcing wherever feasible, ensuring taxpayer dollars circulate within the community. Officials emphasize that all bids will be evaluated based on qualifications, experience, and competitive pricing, with a strong emphasis on local preference policies where applicable.
Local business owners are advised to prepare their company profiles and ensure they are registered as vendors with Leon County to receive notifications when the formal Requests for Proposals (RFPs) are released. These contracts are expected to be awarded by late summer, with services commencing in the fall.
