Tampa Sanitation Department Announces New Bulk Trash Pickup Schedule
Tampa residents should take note of upcoming changes to the city's bulk trash pickup schedule, set to take effect starting Monday, April 22, 2026. The Tampa Sanitation Department announced the revised schedule yesterday, aimed at streamlining services and improving efficiency across the city.
Under the new system, bulk waste collection will no longer operate on a call-in basis. Instead, specific zones within Tampa will have designated pickup weeks throughout the month. For example, residents in the historic Hyde Park area, generally south of Kennedy Boulevard and west of Bayshore Boulevard, can expect their bulk pickup during the first full week of each month. Those in the vibrant Seminole Heights neighborhood, north of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and east of the Hillsborough River, will have their collection scheduled for the second week.
The department encourages all residents to visit the official City of Tampa website or call the Sanitation Department directly at (813) 274-8811 to confirm their specific pickup week. Items should be placed curbside no earlier than the Sunday before the designated pickup week and no later than 7:00 AM on Monday of that week. Acceptable items include furniture, appliances without refrigerants, and yard waste bundled in lengths no greater than four feet.
This change is part of a broader effort by the city to enhance public services and manage waste more effectively for the growing Tampa community.
