Tampa Airport's Red Departures Drive Closed for $1.2M Resurfacing Project Until Mid-October

Tampa International Airport's Red Departures drive closed on Monday, September 14, for a $1.2 million resurfacing project. The work is expected to continue until mid-October, impacting travelers using the Red Side of the airport.

During the construction, travelers who normally use Red Departures will be redirected to the Red Express drop-off lanes. Signage guides passengers from Red Express to elevators or escalators for terminal access. Curbside bag check-in remains available at the Red Express Departures drive. Passengers without bags can use Red Express escalators to the third level for shuttle access.

An alternative drop-off option is available at the Blue Side departures area, which allows direct access to airlines. Red Side airlines at TPA include Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, Avelo Airlines, Breeze Airways, British Airways, Discover Airlines, Edelweiss Air, Frontier, Southwest Airlines, Sun Country Airlines, and WestJet.

The Hillsborough County Aviation Authority Board of Directors approved the contract with Restocon Corp. back in May. This project is part of routine upkeep for the airport and mirrors pavement work completed on the Blue Departures drive last summer.

Travelers should plan for potential delays and follow airport signage for the most efficient routes during this period.
