Born in 1948, Hosler was a proud alumnus of St. Johns High School, graduating with the Class of 1966. He continued his education at Central Michigan University, earning his degree with the Class of 1970. His professional career spanned 33 years within St. Johns Public Schools, where he primarily taught at the high school level. Beyond the classroom, Hosler was a devoted family man, survived by his wife, Mary Sue, their children Andy, Betsy, and Ben, and four grandchildren.

Hosler's influence extended significantly into the athletic programs of St. Johns High School. He coached football for three decades and track for 25 years. For a decade, he also served as the school's Athletic Director, shaping the sports landscape for countless young people.
