Sam Robson Honored for Decades of Service to Punta Gorda
Punta Gorda resident Sam Robson was recognized yesterday, April 7, 2026, for his extensive volunteer work and contributions to the community. The recognition took place during a small gathering at the Punta Gorda Civic Association Hall on Taylor Road, attended by friends, family, and local officials.
Robson, a familiar face at numerous local events, has dedicated over 30 years to various community initiatives. His efforts have touched many aspects of Punta Gorda life, from organizing neighborhood clean-ups along the scenic Peace River to volunteering at the beloved annual Fishermen's Village Seafood Festival. He is particularly known for his tireless work with the local historical society, helping to preserve and share the rich history of our historic waterfront town.
Councilwoman Eleanor Vance, speaking at the event, highlighted Robson's quiet dedication. "Sam embodies the spirit of Punta Gorda," Vance stated. "He's not one for grand gestures, but his consistent, heartfelt work has made a tangible difference in the lives of so many and in the beauty of our town."
Robson, a retired educator from Charlotte High School, expressed his gratitude, stating, "Punta Gorda has been my home for most of my life, and it's been a privilege to give back to a community that has given me so much." He encouraged others to find ways to get involved, emphasizing that even small contributions can collectively build a stronger community.
The event concluded with a presentation of a commemorative plaque to Robson, acknowledging his unwavering commitment to making Punta Gorda a better place for everyone.
